Effort

Measure effort (input) to quantify benefits (output)

business-transformation-effort.jpg

How much will this cost?

How long will it take to complete?

How many staff do I need to complete the work?

What resources do I need to divert from other work?

How will I measure the effort devoted to my transformation?

Be clear, be confident and don’t overthink it. The beauty of your story is that it’s going to continue to evolve and your site can evolve with it. Your goal should be to make it feel right for right now. Later will take care of itself. It always does.

From my view

So often, measuring benefits of a large transformation is an afterthought. Developing tools to measure effort from the outset sets you up to assess the net benefit derived upon completion. Measurement is as much of an art as science. Some things like cost are easy to measure while other things such as efficiency, employee engagement, client satisfaction are harder. Regardless, assessing benefits realized, however caveated, lets you measure and communicate if the transformation was “worth it”.
